This was worse than some random bandit or monster. This was her sister, the girl who had killed their father and not even had the honour to be punished for her actions. She had hung onto hope, when she was first told about her father’s death, that Snow was innocent, that Regina was making it all up. But of course, as you grow up, you realise that people are inherently cruel and selfish, and that sometimes the older sister you looked up to wasn’t the perfect person you thought they were.
❝ If you’re going to kill me, go ahead. It’d be quicker than starving.
You’d be doing me a service. ❞
She had meant to sound brave and convincing, but her voice cracked, and she sounded more like a dog that had been stepped on than a courageous Princess.
“ Sister.” Her words spat out like a curse.
The fairest winced, clearly appalled by the barbaric plea. Her own sister thought that her other half would bring harm to her, how terrible has this situation grown? No doubt Rose had been convinced that she had killed their father, how else would their stepmother cope with the undying evidence of a jealous princess who was too eager to be Queen. Indeed, she did wish to be Queen, only to make her mother who lived in the sky, proud. She also wished to be docile in her father’s eyes, a spitted image of her mother, he used to say.
